Our
Farm is set in the beautiful Welsh Marches in the Old County of Radnorshire
Mentioned in the Doomsday Book, in the hunting area of King John. It is
surrounded by Roman Remains and within view of one of the Oldest Prehistoric
Wood Henges ever found, dated at around 4000 years old. Bounded by the
Word Famous Offas Dyke to its South side, an earthwork constructed from
the North to the South of Wales it sits over looking the Radnor Valley
one of the prettiest areas of fertile rolling Countryside one would ever
see. Unlike many of the surrounding Farms, its depth of soil lends itself
to being cropped and lies facing in a southerly direction, a benefit to
early spring growth. Within its own ring fence and with a large wooded
area at its centre it lies undulating from 600ft up to its peak at 1050ft
... A few miles to the East lies the Old County town of Presteigne straddling
the Wales / England border with its quaint streets and shops and Judges
Lodgings! Further a field are found the black and white houses of Herefordshire
while after a half hours drive you may come to Ludlow a quintessentially
English Market Town with it its cobbled streets and Castle. Back at the
Farm, the day to day running is carried out by the second and third generation
of owners, which consists mainly of Livestock and Cereal production. The
majority of our grain being used in the production of the Farms own home
produced Quality Horse Feed which is distributed direct around the locality

| You will
be able to visit us twice each month throughout the year (more frequently
by arrangement) We will book Farmhouse accommodation for you, these are
generally, inexpensive homely properties, close by, but if you choose, we
may arrange one of the nearby Country Hotels. The Farm Trail will be open
for your pleasure all year round, as will access to the woods and grass
plots, but as stated below the Arable plots will only be free of crops in
August and September and therefore may only be visited once during these
months. You will have different visiting eligibility according to the type
of plot you choose. |
|
There are many considerations
to be taken into account when choosing your plot. If you wish to visit,
not just the field but the actual plot regularly then you should choose
a Grass or Woods based plot as these are available at almost any time
of year. Of these two the grass generally offers the best physical access.
Some may find the woods thick in places but they are interspersed with
clearings and tracks. Arable can only be visited during the post harvest
period, but this time of year, usually from late July to the middle of
September, will fit well with the summer holidays and may prove a nicer
time of year to be outside in the country.
Arable
plots @ £29 are
the least expensive but have the most occurring on them with frequent
management to produce our quality grain but they are also the most restricted
as visits here will be made pre planting and post harvest, as you would
not be able to walk upon your chosen plot area should it be growing a
crop, you will however be able to walk the periphery of the field containing
your plot and there will also be an area set a side for arable purchasers
to rest upon and enjoy as per grass and woods purchasers ,so, the main
difference therefore is only of restriction to the actual plot area itself.
Grassland
plots @ £39 are the most accessible but are less diverse and
their usage is mainly confined to grazing .You would however be able to
visit the plot at pretty much any time of year as there would be little
potential for harm to livestock or sward and would offer opportunities
for picnics etc.
Woodland
plots @ £45
offer the most diverse flora & fauna spectrum these areas mainly wooded
give a greater chance of viewing deer, foxes, badgers, a bonus for wildlife
observers, some areas are steep hill sides some with hidden gorges some
streams and wet land, all interesting all diverse and there for you to
explore!
Plot Size: The size of your plot is
an area of 4000 square feet! Plenty of room to move on!
Plot Position: The actual position
of the plot is NOT marked on the ground as if we did this and maintained
them the plaques etc. would deface this beautiful farm and no work, cultivation's,
grazing or the like would ever occur for fear of moving them! A map reference
and co-ordinates supplied when you make your choice will be sufficient
to reach your plot.
